Renault-Nissan and Daimler have decided to extend their manufacturing alliance, with both the companies to launch their first series of co developed vehicles this fall.

The companies currently share 12 projects across Europe, Asia and North America, and it is the fifth year of their partnership.

Daimler and Renault-Nissan has decided to extend a manufacturing alliance to include gearboxes and engines.

Under the new agreement, Renault will supply Daimler with a 1.5 liter four cylinder diesel engine to be used in Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Mercedes is planning to supply its 2-litre four cylinder gasoline engine which will be used in Infiniti.

Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn: "The global scale of our projects ensures that this collaboration will continue to grow, and we expect to remain partners for the long run."

"This partnership has accelerated the time-to-market for significant vehicle launches and has been an obvious strategic advantage for Renault and Nissan. We remain confident about our relationship for the foreseeable future."
