The Chhattisgarh Government Has Suspended The Factory Licence of 1200-MW Power Plant

Press Trust of India reported that the Chhattisgarh government has suspended the factory licence of 1200-MW power plant of Vedanta-controlled Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (Balco) at Korba due to its non operation.

The issue of the power plant of Balco at Korba, about 250 km from was raised in the assembly today by Congress legislator Premsai Singh who sought to know the status of the project.

In a written reply, Chief Minister Raman Singh said that Balco had proposed to set up four units of 300-MW each but work on none of the units was completed.

Mr Singh said the Labour Department of the state government had granted factory license for the power project on August 5, 2011 which has been suspended.

Mr Singh said that the project was delayed and factory licence was suspended on December 7 following the directive of chief factory inspector till further order.
